JOB DESCRIPTION: HOUSE MONITOR
DEPARTMENT: TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
PROGRAM
SALARY: Free Housing in exchange
for House Monitor service
REQUIREMENTS:
SUMMARY
In exchange for providing your
services as House Monitor, Bill Wilson Center will provide you with
housing. The housing is dependent upon your continued good-faith performance
of your duties. A monitor is expected to spend time in the common areas
of the house interacting with the residents, assisting residents with
daily living responsibilities (i.e. meal preparation, chores, time management
and conflict resolution skills). The house monitor is responsible for
enforcing the house rules, setting limits and consequences and notifying
the case manager of rule violations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Approve visitors and visitor passes.
Inform visitors of house rules.
Approve and sign overnight passes
(2 per month maximum)
Be present at the home 5 nights out of the week (7pm - on)
Be available 2 days out of the week.
Check in with residents daily.
Spend 1/2 hour with each resident
weekly
Conduct monthly maintenance check of property and turn in report
to case manager.
Do random bed checks.
Search bedrooms on suspicion of rule violations (i.e. drugs,
alcohol, stolen items, visitors after hours)
Confront residents regarding rule violations.
Notify case manager in a timely manner regarding rule violations. (If
an emergency, call case manager ASAP, otherwise leave a message on voice
mail)
Follow appropriate procedure in case of an emergency. (If an
outside agency is called, i.e. police, fire, etc. - contact case manager)
Monitor the residents' chores and room (assign chores, sign off
chores each day, every week update chore book, give residents a time
frame when chores will be checked), and demonstrate how the chore is
to be done by the chore book guidelines.
Attend house meetings and provide
feedback to residents on house issues. Attend monthly monitor support
meetings and weekly meeting with case manager for site.
Collect and distribute mail to residents daily.
Provide case manager with scheduled time will be at site and
times scheduled to be away.
Notify case manager in a timely manner if gone overnight. Limit
time away from site to 14 consecutive days and a total of 20 days during
a year period.
Provide case manager with an emergency
contact for self.
